Championing Gender Equity and Fighting Food Insecurity
Robyn Verrall, a force for change in the corporate and agricultural sectors, was recently named the Winner of the Gender Equity Awards for Australia in the prestigious category of CEO – Board Member. Her leadership, vision, and commitment to creating tangible change have set a new benchmark for gender equity and social responsibility in Australia.
Robyn’s impact extends beyond the boardroom. Her dedication to addressing food insecurity among vulnerable women has earned her international recognition. Earlier this year, she met Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, in London at the Women Changing the World Awards, where she won Silver for Women in Ag and Farming. Her accolade acknowledged her tireless efforts to ensure women and communities across Australia have access to food, helping to bridge economic barriers to equity.
At the event, Robyn delivered a powerful seven-minute keynote address on opportunity, food insecurity, and grassroots action. She challenged the audience to take small but meaningful steps, stating:
“If you know a woman who is single, who is a single mother, and who is over the age of 50, they are in food insecurity in Australia. It’s about inviting them for a meal, asking your children if anyone at school has no lunch or asks for food. Look close to home—it’s a global problem.”
The Duchess of York was deeply moved by Robyn’s message, leading to a discussion on the importance of supporting women facing economic hardship. This connection has since flourished into a partnership with publisher Karen Weaver of KMD Books and Duchess Serenity Books. Together, Robyn and Karen are championing female writers and storytellers, empowering them to share their experiences on a global platform while raising funds for vital charities.
Robyn and Karen recently reunited in Perth on November 1st to launch the Duchess’s new children’s book and discuss an upcoming charity event in South Australia for Harvesting Potential, an initiative that continues Robyn’s mission to fight food insecurity and create opportunities for those in need.
Robyn Verral’s leadership exemplifies the true essence of gender equity—not just advocating for change but actively working to make it a reality. Through her corporate influence, advocacy, and partnerships, she is shaping a more equitable future for women in Australia and beyond.
