Breaking Barriers in Conveyancing
A Conversation with Elizabeth Kraft of E K Conveyancing
Nestled in the picturesque Barossa Valley, E K Conveyancing has carved a niche for itself as an all-female conveyancing service. In this candid interview, the founder, Elizabeth Kraft, shares her unique journey, challenges, and the innovations that set her apart in the competitive world of property transactions. Known for their empathetic services they draw both a mixture of local SA clients and those based interstate.
Elizabeth started E K Conveyancing when her youngest son was just 18 months old and was a way to balance professional ambition with family life.

Being a young female entrepreneur in a tight-knit community came with its hurdles. Competing with long-established firms in a close-knit community where I’ll never truly be considered a “local” was tough. It took time to establish trust and gain recognition in the Barossa Valley.
Through active community involvement and a commitment to exceptional service, she has built a strong reputation. She sponsors the Tanunda Football Club and attends as many games as possible, demonstrating her support for local sports. Additionally, she sponsored the All Occasion Events Community Awards, which celebrate excellence among local business owners. She is also a proud supporter of the Barossa Vintage Festival, a month-long celebration from April 23rd to 27th that marks the end of the vintage season with events across the Barossa.
Now the Barossa is her home of 27 years. She has raised her family here and is deeply grateful for the community’s support in her success. She is now paying it forward by employing two other women, including a newly registered conveyancer and she loves fostering their growth in the profession.
In November 2023, she celebrated 10 years in business, “it was a milestone I’m incredibly proud of” she says. “You want your business to be successful, but you never know and to be a trusted female professional in a small country town is a real achievement.
Elizabeth credits some of her success to empathy. “As a woman in a male-dominated field, I bring a softer, client-focused approach to my work while maintaining the utmost professionalism. Treating clients like family and working tirelessly to achieve their goals is at the heart of everything I do.”
In addition, E K Conveyancing has embraced digital innovations, offering electronic processes for document signing and identity verification. This flexibility allows clients to complete tasks at their convenience, even after hours, expanding the accessibility of their services.
Having just celebrated her 50th birthday in 2025, she is focused on expanding the business to serve the community even better. It started with a rebrand and now she is working to enhance her visibility by expanding her participation in both, local and industry events.
What advice would you give to aspiring conveyancers?
Take the leap but be ready to work hard. Running a business is no easy feat; it requires heart, soul, and resilience. Always remember to be kind, recognise the opportunities that helped you along the way, and pay it forward to others.
